Founded in 2020, UKHIH is an independent humanitarian innovation initiative fully funded by the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office and hosted within Elrha - a global humanitarian organisation and the UK’s leading independent supporter of humanitarian innovation and research.
We broker and facilitate high-impact accelerated innovation collaborations, bringing together researchers, humanitarian responders, donors, companies and local communities.
Our responsive work draws on cross-sector expertise, convening workshops and facilitating discussions to identify key challenges and innovative solutions to emerging humanitarian challenges.
Including researchers based in low- and middle-income countries is central to our work – in addition to building and supporting local capacity, these researchers provide invaluable insights and connections with local people.
Since 2021, we have supported ten research fellowships in Cameroon, Egypt, Kenya, Nepal, Palestine, the Philippines, Uganda and Yemen.
