UKHIH is seeking proposals from service providers or consortia to deliver the Inclusive Solutions for Humanitarian Technology initiative. This initiative will focus on designing and piloting participatory, community-centered approaches to technology development in humanitarian contexts, with an emphasis on ethical, responsive, and culturally informed solutions.
Through a structured approach involving diverse stakeholders - including crisis-affected communities, humanitarian practitioners, and technology developers-the initiative aims to produce guidance, methodologies, and supplementary resources that ensure humanitarian technology solutions are shaped by those they impact most. Service providers are expected to work iteratively over the two-month project period, delivering high-quality outputs that include stakeholder analysis, participatory workshops, methodology development, and promotional materials.
To date, UKHIH has worked with partners such as RAND Europe, Glass.ai, and Athena Infonomics, conducting systems-level research to assess the role of technology in humanitarian settings. This initiative builds upon those findings, aligning with established guidance to ensure participatory practices are applied effectively across emerging technologies in humanitarian work.
Selection Process
Proposals will be evaluated against criteria outlined in the full Call for Proposals document. UKHIH expects to invite shortlisted candidates for interviews on 27 November 2024, where they will have the opportunity to discuss their proposal in detail and demonstrate suitability for the initiative. Interviews will assess both technical approach and project management capacity, considering each bidder's experience in community engagement, participatory methodologies, and emerging technology in humanitarian contexts.
